“I didn’t think it could be more perfect than here,” said Coach’s Stuart Vevers at New York’s American Museum of Natural History last night. The museum—complete with its massive titanosaur and Barosaurus fossils—opened up its doors after hours, welcoming the likes of Natasha Lyonne, Rose McGowan, Petra Collins, Lexi Boling, and others to toast Coach’s just-launched collaboration with Colette.
To celebrate, guests helped themselves to overflowing tables of pastel-shaded candy and dinosaur-decorated cakes, picked up mini dino tattoos—both inspired by the museum exhibition and the dinosaur-theme collection—and sipped on Champagne as DJs Agathe Mougin and Wladimir Schall set the vibe.
“When I saw the dinosaurs in the [previous Coach] collections I thought, ‘We need this for kids,’ ” said Colette’s Sarah Andelman. “The capsule collection is for kids 2 to 6 years old—it’s exclusively at Colette and the pop-up in Soho. For me, to come to New York and to be alone in this room when you go normally during the day when it’s always crowded—it’s amazing.”
Vevers echoed Andelman’s sentiment: “When you’re doing a collaboration about dinosaurs and you’re in New York City—you couldn’t do any better than here.”
