Like Hollywood, fashion has long paid homage to the American West. More recently, its iconic silhouettes and rococo detailing have been retooled with contemporary cuts and sophisticated fabrics (think tweeds, silks, and lace), charmingly melding the humble and the haute in a way not even the most committed urbanite could resist.
This season, whether made by Ralph Lauren or Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein or Dior, there was a detectable country twang to many of the runway’s most covetable looks. Colorful skirts took cues from hand-stitched patchwork quilts; leather boots in a range of textures came tall and eminently walkable; the jewelry was big and bold; and checks, plaids, stars, and stripes were all embraced with gleeful abandon. Here, Gigi Hadid takes the reins and roams the wilds of downtown Manhattan—with her trusty sidekick, entrepreneur and former PBR athlete Bonner Bolton.
