There’s less than a month left of 2023, and Dakota Johnson is clearly ready to ring in the new year. This week, the star was spotted at the Miami unveiling of the Museum of Sex’s upcoming exhibition, Modern Sex: 100 Years of Design and Decency (which Johnson curated!). At the event, Johnson delivered a dazzling holiday look that’s begging to be worn on New Year’s Eve. Shimmering silvers were involved—duh.
Styled by Kate Young, Johnson’s festive Gucci look was tailored but totally party-ready. Grounding the ensemble was a sparkly silver crystal dress, which Johnson paired with a structured black evening coat (the inside lining of the outerwear even featured silver sequins, too). Continuing with the glitzy, dressy feel, the actor finished off the look with a pair of strappy stilettos, too—a New Year’s Eve staple. “I love this look because it’s so simple and so over the top at the same time,” says Young. “It’s just a slip and a jacket, but all the crystals make it super fun and glamorous.”
Now, is disco ball dressing the most original take on New Year’s style? Perhaps not, but with the help of a modern dress silhouette and sharp tailoring, the look did feel fresh—and is totally worth replicating come December 31st. Because who doesn’t want to exit the year on a shimmering note?
