As the temperature begins its seasonal downward slide, sometimes there is nothing more relaxing or satisfying than not going out on the weekend and instead experiencing the joys of a joint staycation. The setting may be more familiar—and certainly more casual—than the average date, but it’s no excuse to experience a wardrobe slump: Staying in doesn’t mean you have to wear dingy pajamas and watch movies for 48 hours. There are plenty of things to do—and wear.
“The weekend indoors with the beau doesn’t have to be solely a Netflix marathon—or a sweatpants fest,” says Market Editor Chelsea Zalopany. “Try something new, like baking cookies or playing an old board game.” Pretend that you’re spending the weekend upstate, without having to pay to gas up the car for the drive! And since the weekend doesn’t just consist of slothing on the couch—neither should your wardrobe. “Choose a plain pajama shirt because it s comfy. Plus, it’s chic—it can even be worn outside the house,” says Zalopany. “And don’t forget a great pair of house slippers.” As for bottoms, opt for a pair of loose-fitting jeans for the daytime if you are cooking or doing little tasks around the house. “But don’t forget a playful lingerie set,” adds Zalopany, “because it is also a playful night.”
