This summer, Emily Ratajkowski’s off-duty wardrobe has gone full-blown Noughties. A bedazzled tank top? Check. Low-slung cargo pants? Check. Slip dresses, micro shades, and trucker hats? All of the above. However, her latest appearance hints her Y2K era may have run its course, as she was wearing a more athletic ensemble that leaned clean-cut and sporty, not spangled.
In a striking departure from her recent Y2K-inspired outfits, the model and author wore a white cotton French terry Reebok cropped panelled long-sleeve top and a Guizio mini skirt. To complete the outfit, she added black square-frame sunglasses, a white leather shoulder bag, and a pair of white Reebok trainers, raising the question: Has she officially ditched her Sambas for an alternative retro sneaker? (EmRata was spotted wearing Reeboks last month, along with a London commuter favorite: a Daunt Books tote bag.)
Last year, the athleisure trend dominated the celebrity fashion scene, with It-girls like Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Hailey Bieber embracing the style wholeheartedly. Being one of the most influential trendsetters of the moment, Ratajkowski now puts athleisure back in the spotlight. It’s highly likely that we’ll witness more sporty looks from other A-listers in the near future.
