Last night at the Netflix Emmys after party, Emily Ratajkowski wore a modest dress. Well, sort of. Silhouette-wise, the black shoulder-baring piece by Anaïs Jourden covered a lot of skin, and boasted a menswear appeal thanks to the oversize white shirting cuffs. But Ratajkowski being Ratajkowski, she added her own heated-up twist and sported it sheer, sans a slip. The model-actress noted that the look was indeed supposed to be revealing, and wrote in an Instagram caption: “Real friends take flash pics to see how sheer your dress is before you leave the house.” This wasn t EmRata’s first time opting for transparency. Back in June to celebrate her 27th birthday, she wore granny panties with a see-through jumpsuit.
Sure, not everyone wants to find out that their dress shows more than they bargained for after flash photography, but lately, what used to be a faux pas is becoming a saucy go-to look for celebrities. Rihanna, Bella Hadid, and Kendall Jenner have all opted to go braless in sheer looks, even during casual off-duty moments. And transparency has even crept onto the red carpet: Jenner headed to the 2017 Met Gala in a see-through La Perla Couture dress. No doubt there will be many more see-through moments to come, night and day—watch this space. Here, see the best 8 sheer dresses to try now.
