She’s the star who encouraged thousands of women to embrace their grays. Andie MacDowell, an actor who became queen of our hearts as Hugh Grant’s curly-haired love interest in Four Weddings and a Funeral, stepped out last night sporting a chic, swept-over updo, complete with a brow-bumping side fringe. Styled with a dinner suit, velvet bow tie, and a crisp white shirt, MacDowell radiated timeless elegance.
Joined by friend Eva Longoria (they seemed to be making one another crack up on the red carpet), MacDowell was there for the Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning premiere, which Zoe Saldaña, Irina Shayk, Gabbriette, Halle Berry, and Angela Bassett also attended.
MacDowell, who also happens to be L’Oréal’s longest-serving spokesperson, is no stranger to delivering a hair look at Cannes. In 2021, she debuted a tumbling mane of salt and pepper curls, telling Vogue that the decision to stop coloring her hair left her feeling “more powerful” than ever. “[O]nce I did it, it was just so clear to me that my instincts were right, because I’ve never felt more powerful. I feel more honest. I feel like I’m not pretending. I feel like I’m embracing right where I am. I feel really comfortable,” she said, answering the question of whether she felt any apprehension before embracing her at the time newly silver hair.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, given how much her fans love it too, MacDowell previously told Vogue that her hair is the thing she likes most about herself. “My hair is very curly, and it’s very fluffy, very curly, and I like it! So if it helps other people say, ‘Oh, okay, I like it, too,’ then I like mine too.” We love what you love, Andie, and if it’s a mass of curls or swept-up chignon, we’re here for it.
