Binge-watching can be very personal: One person’s Stranger Things is another person’s Love Is Blind. But nothing unites viewers quite like a new Netflix series. When the docuseries Tiger King dropped just over a week ago, many of us happened to be at home, thanks to the spread of the new coronavirus, and a hit was born. The story of big-cat owners Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin is incessantly lurid and unexpected, and people were soon discussing their theories, favorite personalities, and unbelievable moments on social media. Even celebrities like Cardi B, Edward Norton, and Dax Shepard put in their two cents about the true-crime antics.

Then another well-known voice chimed in on the latest must-watch show: Jared Leto. Leto himself made headlines recently for having found out about the coronavirus pandemic much later than most everyone else because he had been on a two-week retreat, closed off from the outside world. Late last week the actor, musician, and sometime fashion muse tweeted, “We’re watching #TigerKing tonight for #JaredLetoCinemaClub.” Nobody needed much more of an invitation to tune in to his thoughts, which he shared generously.

Just so you know, Leto might have had to catch up on COVID-19, but he was not late to the Tiger King party. When he live-tweeted the show, he had already seen all seven episodes:

Leto clearly appreciated the in-your-face style favored by the colorful main characters, even comparing it to his own:

If you’ve seen Tiger King, you also know that Joe Exotic is a country-western singer, a fact Leto appeared to relish:

But he also reminded Twitter that the animal-rights issues raised by the show were of paramount importance:

No doubt echoing other fans’ sentiments, Leto thanked Netflix for the much-needed distraction:

In turn, we thank him for his own contribution to Tiger King discourse. And for this outfit.
