What would Lee Radziwill wear today? It’s not a question most of us ask ourselves when getting dressed in the morning, but for vintage curator and founder of the jewelry brand Juju Vera, Julia "Juju" Ferentinos, it’s a frequent consideration—a source of inspiration for her own style.
With her signature kaftans and tasseled earrings, the impeccably dressed Radziwill is just one of a handful of women whose refined elegance has shaped Juju’s penchant for well-crafted essentials and unique adornments that evoke a sense of emotion. The worldly wardrobes of Marella Agnelli, Jacqueline de Ribes, Peggy Guggenheim, and Frida Kahlo also inform her everyday looks—and it’s this admiration for style icons of a bygone era that defines her taste. “These were women who always had an effortless confidence and elegance about them—a signature and an individual style,” she says of her fascination with these particular figures.
Before launching her jewelry brand last summer, Juju honed her eye by sourcing vintage pieces for films, publications, and private clients around the world, regularly frequenting the Saint-Ouen flea markets in Paris, the Lagunilla booths in Mexico City, and small specialty second-hand stores in Brera, Milan. “I was building a collection of timeless treasures that were always centered around proportion, mystery, and nostalgia,” she says of the pieces she’s drawn to. Given her love of the hunt, it should come as little surprise that each piece Juju gravitates toward—not to mention designs—tells a story.
Whether it’s a treasured tasseled Rafael Sanchez golden egg-shaped clutch, a prized vintage tweed Chanel jacket picked up in Copenhagen, or a simple black cashmere turtleneck from J.Crew that serves as a blank canvas for her bold jewelry creations, there’s always an element of discovery—and a wink to the past—in how she dresses.
There’s an art to wearing vintage in a way that feels current, and Juju effortlessly bridges past and present with a true high-low approach. She turns to high-street and contemporary labels like Leset and Éterne for elevated everyday staples, The Row and Khaite for impeccably tailored pieces and quality leather goods that stand the test of time—then seamlessly pairs these with her cherished vintage finds and her own jewelry designs. “Women in the past used to adorn themselves. I feel like we lost some of that magic along the way, and I want to bring that subtle romance back,” she says.
Believing that beauty is often found in balance, Juju feels most true to herself when she blends old-world familiarity with pieces that reflect her American upbringing and Greco-Roman heritage.
Ahead, she shares with Vogue her go-to ensembles for a full week of meetings, workshop visits, and thrifting jaunts—seamlessly weaving in her glamorous references (spot the leopard-print coat!) with a modern New Yorker’s take on practical polish.
A Touch of Americana
Whenever a Zoom meeting is on the calendar, Juju relies on high-quality basics to look and feel polished. “I think it’s great to invest in a classic white button-down because it always looks so sharp and handsome,” she says. One of her favorite splurges is a creamy silk button-up from Loro Piana, beloved for its timeless, menswear-inspired cut and meticulous stitching.
To balance the tailored elegance of her blouse and trousers—and to weave in her signature mix of influences—she accessorizes with a vintage belt found in Mexico City and silver jewelry of her own design. “I love anything with a patina,” she says of the belt. “I usually prefer it—it has soul and feels more authentic.” Her insider tip for sourcing vintage belts? Always check the material. If it’s made of sterling silver and has good heft, it’s a piece worth investing in.
Juju also notes that she grew up riding, making leather riding boots a natural choice to complete her look. In fact, her most well-worn pairs live right by her door, ready to be slipped into before heading out for the day.
Elevating the Everyday With Bold Accents
Thoughtful investments—like a perfectly tailored pair of trousers from The Row—serve as the foundation of Juju’s wardrobe, which she seamlessly mixes with quality staples from Theory, J.Crew, and Mango. “I love to dress up wardrobe basics,” she says.
Here, she elevates a smart turtleneck-and-trouser combo in a tonal palette with her Eliza earrings and Olympia armband. Wearing the armband over her sleeve is a deliberate styling choice—one that adds subtle polish and a hint of personality, making it perfect for a weekday lunch meeting. “It’s also a great example of how I like to accessorize more monochromatic ensembles with bolder jewelry choices,” she notes.
Easy Comfort Out and About
Dressing for a packed day requires practicality, and for Juju, trousers and loafers are the go-to choice whenever she plans to be in her workshop. “I can’t wear heels during the day—I walk everywhere!” she exclaims, emphasizing the need for sensible footwear while navigating New York City.
Her vintage Tod’s loafers are in constant rotation, as are her impeccably tailored black trousers from The Row—an investment she deems well worth it. “From the stitching to the pleating, they are perfectionists when it comes to tailoring,” she says, noting that the right fit is a subtle yet powerful expression of sophistication.
To soften the structured elements of her look, she reaches for a cashmere sweater—her heather gray Ralph Lauren cable-knit is a reliable favorite. A final touch of jewelry adds a feminine flourish, balancing out the masculinity of her trousers-and-loafers combination.
Ladylike, Around the Clock
Minimalist or maximalist, every modern wardrobe benefits from a great vintage evening jacket. For Juju, this slightly cropped tweed Chanel piece is a prized find—perfect for long days that stretch into the night. She discovered it in Copenhagen at Bakkekilde Vintage, a veritable treasure trove of archival Hermès and Chanel.
Here, she styles it with a form-fitting Éterne dress that transitions seamlessly from work to after-hours. When choosing accessories, Juju leans into the mood she wants to evoke: if she’s channeling old-world glamour, she’ll reach for a gold tassel clutch; for a more modern spin, she opts for a touch of silver, like her metallic vintage Chanel handbag—her second piece from the house in this look. To round out the ensemble, she might slip into Chanel slingbacks or ballet flats, or opt for a sleek black boot for a sharper edge.
Easy Does It With a Burst of Color
Relaxed weekend morning meetings allow for more flexibility with comfort-first pieces, like this floor-length gray sweater dress from Leset—a brand Juju often turns to for its well-made basics. “If I’m wearing a dress, I always try to tone it down with a loafer,” she shares.
True to her high-low approach and appreciation for materiality, she pairs the dress with a colorful vintage Hermès silk scarf, a vintage metal belt, and her Petra shell pendant, creating a laid-back yet polished ensemble.
Treasure Hunting
Most of us have vivid memories of our first designer purchase. For Juju, it was this vintage chocolate brown Hermès Kelly, which she stumbled upon in Paris a few years ago. With its perfect combination of quality, price, color, and patina, it was a piece she instantly connected with—and simply couldn’t leave behind.
“Chocolate brown is my absolute favorite color,” she says. “It’s a rich neutral that warms things up and pairs beautifully with ivory, navy, and black.”
To showcase her luxe designs in a more casual, off-duty setting, she styled the bag with a sleek black J.Crew turtleneck, serving as a blank canvas for her gold choker, and a thrifted Vince shearling jacket. A subtle detail for the keen observer: note the cuff wrapped over her sleeve—a small but intentional touch.
Thrifting in the Wild
For a Saturday spent on the (vintage) hunt, Juju reaches for a bold leopard coat—another secondhand treasure she brought home from Paris—paired with a woven basket from Kinderbrook Farm, a nod to her signature mix-and-match ethos.
“With the cold weather, I’ve been wearing my cuffs over sweaters and jackets to bring a little excitement into the everyday,” she shares of her accessories-forward styling approach.
As for footwear, she swears by her favorite Khaite boots. “They’re the Nevada style, and they have the perfect heel. They’re snug around the ankle and look great with both jeans and trousers,” she says.
Playful Polka Dots With Jewel Box Finds
While neutrals dominate Juju’s everyday wardrobe, when she wants to make a playful statement for a more formal occasion, she turns to polka dots—a pattern she associates with vintage editorials yet finds perpetually fresh. “I love a cream and black polka dot—it’s elegant, timeless, and fun,” she says.
For evening, she elevates the look with bold earrings and finishes it off with a jewel box-like metal clutch. “I’m always on the hunt for old tassel clutches,” she shares. “They’re not exactly utilitarian—you can’t fit much—but there’s just something so special about them.”
