Alexander Wang’s 10-Year Anniversary After-Party Delivered on an Epic Scale

It’s safe to say that few know how to throw down like Alexander Wang. Last night—after Anna Ewers closed the designer’s 10th anniversary show and an energy-packed video screened opposite the runway—the curtain came up at Pier 64 to prompt the start of an already wild night, even before the drinks were poured and everyone hit the dancefloor. Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Bella Hadid (with The Weeknd on arm), Miguel, and Nicki Minaj made their way from their seats over to a massive room adjacent to the runway, where Wang’s gang of models, musicians, and downtown creatives were treated to cocktails, Jell-O shots, and wings, with pole dancers performing above.

“I’m very proud, and I look up to him!” said model and longtime designer muse Hanne Gaby Odiele over the blast of the music. “He’s a good friend.”

Friends and family was definitely the vibe of the evening, as was the definitive after-hours mood we’ve come to expect from Wang. “We got a few major performers coming,” revealed the designer midway through the night, “but they’re running a little behind, because, you know, major performers like to do that.”

The big reveal? Sets by Tinashe (who greeted the audience by encouraging us all to make some decisions we might regret and “reset” the next day), Lil Wayne, and Ludacris.

“I have one thing [to say],” announced Wang before Luda went on. “I lost my wallet tonight. Whoever finds it gets a really big present . . . because I don’t go to Paris with no ID. No ID, no Balenciaga.”

The designer went on to throw money (well, Wang bills) into the crowd, capping off a night that epically marked his powerhouse decade in business, and solidified his reign as king of the after-party: a celebration of all things fun, and all things Alexander Wang.
