Katie Holmes is the queen of wearable style. Whether she’s out on the streets, or on the red carpet, her fashion-forward outfits always have an effortless quality about them—she wears the clothes, not the other way around. She can take something as practical as a winter boot and make it seem instantly polished and put-together. Much of this is because of the timeless clothes that she gravitates towards. Her wardrobe of classic blue jeans is legendary, for one. And as the temperatures begin to plunge in New York, is it really any surprise that Holmes is armed with an enviable coterie of coats?
Back in October, for instance, Holmes gave her Sorel hiker boots a luxurious twist by pairing them with a Max Mara camel coat. Its double-breasted buttons and long, lean silhouette will never go out of style. Another timeless outerwear moment was when she sported a sharp-shouldered navy overcoat with a men s Gap sweater, proving the right coat can dress up even the coziest of winter sweaters.
It’s not to say Holmes hasn’t tested out more trendier, of-the-moment coats this season either. Earlier this month, she stepped out in a leather trench coat by Madga Butrym, whose supple, chocolate brown colorway felt modern and expensive. She’s also worn a gray lambswool coat by Tove, and its built-in scarf neckline gives you two cozy pieces in one.
