Cigarettes, colorful condoms, and a baby cupid could be spotted in a tiny diner in Manhattan s Meatpacking District. “The Little Diner That Could," also known as Hector s, housed the footwear brand s crush party, which was effectively a time capsule that transported attendees to a party filled with bold love and brazen styles. The one rule guests had to abide by: You must bring a plus one, and they must be a crush (or an old flame).
Upon walking in, guests and their crushes were given a clothespin with a miniature Polaroid picture labeled “single” or “taken” to pin onto themselves. A scene of 70s-inspired outfits, disco music, and an ordained Elvis Presley unfolded. The crushes in attendance? Marina Larroudé, Ricardo Larroudé, Finnegan Biden, Kim Shui, Tanya Taylor, Timo Weiland, Jenny Walton, Gigi Burris, and more.
It was an evening of eclectically clad fashion notables and industry mavens. “We wanted to throw the kind of party where no one wanted to leave—a fun, unexpected, and playful night out in the city. And doing it at an iconic place like Hector’s, which is sadly closing its doors after 40 years, made it all the more special,” Marina Larroudé told Vogue.
From the cupid in a diaper with his bow and arrow, to the ordained Elvis that actually married a couple, to the kiss cam, happy ending chocolates, and LALO tequila cocktails, it was an unexpected New York night indeed.
