How Stylist Lorenzo Posocco Gets Dressed

Welcome to How Stylists Dress, a series in which Vogue explores how fashion’s image makers style themselves on a day-to-day basis. To launch the series, we’ve spoken with Lorenzo Posocco, the man behind Dua Lipa’s double-tap-worthy look.

Italian stylist Lorenzo Posocco is known for styling Dua Lipa in a series of headline-making, show-stopping looks. He dressed her in a slinky, bedazzled Versace for the Grammys, as well as a Burberry sweater to go to lunch. But Posocco has made Lipa a hot fashion commodity thanks to his eye for smaller labels, including Richard Quinn; Kat Rose, a solo designer located in Portsmouth, England; and the New York–based Beepy Bella. By incorporating these buzzy designers, he’s separated Lipa among a pack of pop stars.

Posocco’s personal style has also been gaining some attention as well. Browse his Instagram, and you’ll see that the 38-year-old is a king of mirror selfies and fit pics. We’ve seen Posocco rock an oversized cream Valentino suit, Prada short-shorts, and a JW Anderson graphic shirt. In other words, Posocco unabashedly loves fashion and wears it well, too.

Here, see what 5 days of looks like for the stylist.

Vogue: What was your relationship with fashion like in your younger years?

Lorenzo Posocco: I’ve been a fashion freak since I was young. I’m from Italy, and during the ’90s, it was a magic moment for fashion. It was Tom Ford for Gucci, Prada, and Miu Miu menswear. It was quite normal for me to start working in this business because I didn’t really have any other idea, to be honest, about what to do.

“I just got this jacket from the spring/summer Prada collection and I really love it. I decided to wear it with leather trousers. It was just like on Saturday and there was nothing to do in London because it was all closed. I went for a walk with my boyfriend.”
Posocco wears a Prada jacket, a Tom Ford–era Gucci shirt, a Ludovic de Saint Sernin T-shirt, pants by Dsquared, and Bottega Veneta boots.

How did you start your career?

I’m from the north of Italy and then I moved to Milan where I went to university. I started working with magazines. After 12 years in Milan, I moved to London where I worked at a magazine. Six years ago, I met Dua, and we started working together on a project. Dua is actually the first celebrity I worked with.

“This look was for a normal day’s work. I like it because this purse is very nice. I just put my phone there and a wallet, and it’s so easy when you are working.”

Posocco wears a Natasha Zinko jacket, a Supreme T-shirt, Prada pants, Nike shoes, a Paco Rabanne bag around his neck, and rings by Spinelli, Vram, Bulgari, Bea, and Alan Crocetti.

Where do you shop?

There are few places in London that I really love. One is Aro Archive, where it has ’90s and ’00s Yohji Yamamoto and Raf Simons. Another store is Machine-A, which has a broad selection. And Dover Street Market, which is amazing. I have a very strong obsession with Prada. I have pieces from old collections and I keep wearing them because every day I really love them. Then I go on Vestiaire sometimes. I buy random pieces from Miu Miu’s old collections. I have to say, my boyfriend is good at finding clothes.

“I went to an appointment in Central London and I decided to put this on. This is one of the Prada archive pieces from a very, very old collection. I had these trousers for ages and I really love them. I just am feeling this mood, to be honest, ’70s and kind of daddy.”

What are your must-have pieces?

I love Versace silk shirts. I wear them all year and every moment of my life basically. Then I love my Prada nylon jacket. It has always been part of my wardrobe. Also, I couldn’t be without my chunky, big shoes with a beautiful platform as well, like Derby shoes. I keep wearing the Comme des Garçons [pair].

What was your first big fashion big purchase?

During the ’90s, I remember where I bought this Helmut Lang denim jacket and a matching denim trouser. It was amazing. I still have that jacket actually in my wardrobe.

What smaller labels and designers are you into recently?

ERL, Coomes, Parnell, Youths in Balaclavas, Nao Serati, and Gypsy Sport.
