New York Fashion Week–goers might be the only street style group willing to brave the cold for a really good look. This past season, we saw a mixed bag of temperatures—snowfall and ultra-chilly days in the latter half of the week; sunny, almost 60-degree temps at the start. The warmth was fleeting, but it allowed February’s fashion-show attendees the rare opportunity to trade in traditional winter wear and debut some of spring’s 2022 latest drops—even after the temperatures plummeted!
Perusing all the street style snaps, we see long leather coats, trenches, and wrap coats in springy colors. In addition to lighter outerwear options, there were also plenty of exposed ankles, low-cut necklines, and miniskirts to boot. It’s safe to say no matter the forecast, New York Fashion Week street style stars are going to wear, well, whatever they want.

When it comes to street style, you can’t deny the cool factor of a leathery trench. A trench coat is ideal for those in-between spring days, while a leather version elevates the look. Though if you happen to break one out before winter’s over, we’d suggest layering up underneath.

There’s no better way to leave winter in the past than by ditching your socks altogether. And there’s no better way to say you’re ready for spring than by exposing a little skin.
New Beginnings
Why wait for daffodils to bloom to mark the beginning of the new season when you could wear a coat in the color instead? Until the temperatures start to rise, we suggest layering a set of knit gray separates underneath for extra warmth.
Dress Over Pants
Come spring, why not wear a flowing shirtdress over trousers? In this case, it doubles as outerwear; we like to dream of the days when we can ditch the coat altogether.
