Off-White’s first show under the creative leadership of Image and Art Director Ib Kamara was one of Paris Fashion Week’s most anticipated moments. Along with the extended Off-White collective, Kamara delivered a collection entitled Celebration that articulated the brand language formulated by Virgil Abloh while adding a distinctively different accent to it.
In the midst of all the controlled chaos that comes with prepping a show, Kamara took the time to record the process. As he said: “Over the years I have developed a passion for photographing little and big moments with my personal digital camera, immortalizing memories I hold dear in my heart.” Usually, these moments stay in Kamara’s cloud storage. But to mark what was a landmark show for Off-White as much as Kamara himself, he kindly agreed to share some of his favorites with Vogue Runway.
In an email, he set the context: “The general tone we set for this show behind the scenes really is all about family. From our close collaborators, the collective of creatives that made the show a reality, the casting, and the music, everything intertwined making “CELEBRATION” possible. Looking back at these images I am immediately connected to those beautiful, long hours, days, and weeks before the show—working between Milan, London, and Paris and finding our dimension. Together.” Below, along with his captions, are the visual souvenirs Kamara collected as that dimension was shaped.
