After weeks of Royal drama in the British and American press, a different kind of English scandal has come to the fore. Gillian Anderson came on the podcast to chat with Chloe and deputy editor Taylor Antrim about her latest film, Scoop, on Netflix now. In it, Gillian plays Emily Maitlis, the BBC journalist who conducted that infamous Newsnight interview with Prince Andrew, Duke of York, about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, which subsequently led to Andrew stepping back from royal duties. Gillian shares what it was like to portray such a journalistic powerhouse, and how the role slots into her storied career.

Chloe and Gillian go way back, so the two of them also reminisce about the time Gillian allegedly introduced a young Chloe to the word “vagina” on the set of The X-Files. So many decades later, they note the full circle-ness of it all, given Gillian’s role as sex therapist Jean Milburn on Sex Education, and her recent red carpet vulva gown. In a similar vein, they discuss Gillian’s upcoming book Want, a collection of anonymous letters filled with the sexual fantasies of women from all over the world.

Also on this episode, Vogue Runway writer and Run-Through regular José Criales-Unzueta talks about his time at Shanghai Fashion Week (he loved Samuel Gui Yang’s show, and highly recommends doing karaoke the next time you’re in Shanghai), and the hosts gush over Vogue’s exclusive on Angel Reese (she’s heading to the WNBA!).
