As fashion month draws to a close, Vogue takes a look at some of the key spring/summer 2024 beauty trends to emerge from the Paris shows.

A groomed glow

While fresh, luminous skin is always a trend during fashion month, in Paris it was given an ultra-groomed finish. Think brushed-up brows, barely-there bases and hints of taupe (from Pat McGrath’s Mothership I: Subliminal Palette) to softly add structure around the eyes, as seen at Stella McCartney’s spring/summer 2024 show. Meanwhile, at Loewe, groomed brows were a key element of an otherwise minimal make-up look, while show-stopping skin helped to light up the runway at The Row.

Witchy beauty

The brief for Victoria Beckham’s spring/summer 2024 beauty look? “Feminine with an edge,” a mood that was brought to life by make-up artist Fara Homidi, who applied layers of Victoria Beckham Beauty’s new Vast Lash Mascara onto eyelashes, then adding some faux lashes for extra drama that was just the right side of spidery. This witchy beauty theme continued to escalate through the week. At Dior, Peter Philips created “intense lips that were darkened in the centre, at the top as well as at the bottom, to give a very witch-like bitten-lip effect.” You can recreate the catwalk look at home using the Dior Contour Lipliner in 943 Euphoric. And finally, slightly off-kilter feline flicks were drawn onto the eyes of some of the models at Balenciaga, too. Next spring might well look rather sullen, even if the sun shines.

Floaty waves

Floaty, cool-girl waves are your ticket to excellent hair next spring. At Chanel, models–including Gigi Hadid–walked the runway with silky blown-out waves with varying degrees of texture. The kind of “effortless” hair that secretly requires a hell of a lot of effort, and at the very least a hairdryer, it was a similarly insouciant affair at Louis Vuitton. Think high-shine hair with tousled texture.

Whatever your haircut, the chic way to style it now is with a deep side parting and a slick of gel. At Valentino, models including Kaia Gerber had their hair brushed back (and to the side) with a lightweight gel. It felt fresh and clean–utilitarian, even–rather than grunge. The high-shine hair at Hermès and Loewe told a similar story.

Power pouts

It’s time to touch up your lipstick. Take your cues from Schiaparelli, where glamorous, velveteen red pouts were paired with smoky and alluring eyes. Or Alexander McQueen, where stamped-on power reds were paired with minimal base make-up. The trick is to apply with precision–blurred lines aren’t enough of a statement to achieve this season’s mood.
