“I kind of go through different phases all the time with denim,” says Paris Jackson, getting dressed in a suite at the Carlyle. “Acid-washed, oversize, usually shredded stuff with patches, skinny, bell-bottoms—I love bell-bottoms, but it kind of depends on my mood.” Operating on instinct, the freewheeling actress and model gravitates toward alt rock and Americana, even pairing these clean white jeans with a faded gray Mötley Crüe tour tank from ’83. “I like to pair vintage tees with anything and everything if I can,” she says. “Vintage denim is cool if it’s comfortable, but I don’t really think about how I style my denim—if it works, I throw it on.”
Case in point: the tie-dye bandana Jackson grabs on a whim and wraps around her head, letting her blonde rocker waves float over the top. The final touch? The bottoms of those Calvin Klein Jeans straight-legs, haphazardly rolled until they hit the ankle at its most flattering point. With the best denim—or, if you’re Paris Jackson—anything goes.
