It seems like just yesterday the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund was anointing Paul Andrew, Eva Zuckerman of Eva Fehren, and Ryan Roche fashion’s latest darlings. Last night, however, it was all about the new class. And after a surprise-filled ceremony, every one of the contestants wanted to let their hair down and party. And in what’s become a kind of unofficial tradition, the previous year’s finalists threw the new crop a final party. This year’s bash was a stone’s throw away from Spring Studios, where the awards show was held, at the Sixty SoHo hotel. Taking in the festivities were Monique Péan with husband Stephen Glass; the Baja East duo; and one of this year’s winners, Aurora James, in a metallic Gucci frock—she, understandably, was still reeling from the dinner. “It’s insane,” said James, adding with a laugh, “My mind is completely blown. I went through this whole process just hoping that people didn’t hate me.”
Well, if last night’s event was anything to go by, clearly James has friends. From Diane von Furstenberg, Reed Krakoff, and Christian Louboutin to Vogue’s Hamish Bowles, Zachary Quinto, and Miles McMillan, the Soho staple was bouncing with well-wishers and supporters of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, thanks to the tracks spun by Mia Moretti. Also queuing up to the bar for the Cîroc and Don Julio drinks were Dana Lorenz and Ophélie Guillermand, Siki Im, Devon Windsor, and countless others, before they headed into the GIF photo booth by Phhhoto to make some wacky memories . . . until next year.
