Two months after opening its e-commerce site for registrations, Phoebe Philo, the eponymous label of the former creative director of Celine, has announced its first collection will be available for sale online on 30 October.

The brand’s launch – one of fashion’s most anticipated – was previously thought to be happening in September, and has been a topic of discussion throughout fashion month. Philo forewent a debut show.

The brand shared the update to its email registrants on Saturday morning, amid Paris Fashion Week, with a teaser image and date. Previously, it posted on its official Instagram account that its site was open for registrations, but that post has since been deleted. In under an hour, the post had drawn more than 19,000 likes and hundreds of comments from fans, including Meta’s partnerships lead for fashion and beauty EMEA Clara Cornet and influencers Pernille Teisbaek and Erika Boldrin, among others, all eagerly awaiting the high-profile but secretive designer’s return. The account has over 266,000 followers since launching in February.

Few details about Phoebe Philo have emerged. The brand, which has the backing of French luxury house LVMH, had said it would launch a website for registration in July, and that the inaugural collection would be revealed and available online in September.

It is understood that the brand’s immediate priority is hiring highly skilled and technical product designers. Philo, creative director at Celine from 2008 to 2018, and at Chloé from 1997 to 2006, became known for creating considered, well-made and intelligent pieces that redefined how women dress.
