The Met Gala is where Rosalía’s inimitable style shines brightest: How could we forget the deeper meaning behind her 2024 Dior dress, or her memorable Givenchy look from 2022, which included matching sunglasses. Her appearance on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is always one of the evening’s most exciting moments—and, this year, at the 2025 Met Gala, she did not disappoint.
In 2021, the singer made her Met in Rick Owens, while in 2022, she trusted Matthew M. Williams, then designer at Givenchy, to execute her look. Last year, she wore Dior—and this time around, she entrusted her look in another favored label at the Met Gala: Balmain. In a design by the house’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, the Catalan superstar captured attention in a custom look that incorporated a molded bodice that sculpted her figure, together with a draped skirt. “Tonight is about honoring Olivier s talent—I’m his mannequin,” she said on the blue carpet.
The dress was reminiscent of classical sculpture, thanks to its play of volumes and textures in a shade of crisp white. There was no need for the singer to say more about her own impactful look, as Rousteing himself pointed out: “The idea was to start with the mannequin, and then make the dress her own. She is my muse and tonight she is the main character.” A challenge that Rosalía met—and then some.
