For our September issue’s collection of Last Looks, Vogue sought out 11 women image-makers—whose mediums range from painting to collage to comics—to create this wide-ranging portfolio of vivid fall accessories.
Prada bag
Got bag? Moroccan German model Sarah Feingold photographed this divine green Prada satchel at the exhibition “Milked in Africa,” a show dedicated to the work of South African–born artist Tony Gum at Manhattan’s Fotografiska museum. With a slightly ombré effect—produced by an airbrush spray on its brushed-leather outer—this piece could most certainly be described as the cream of the crop.
Versace bag
Go small or go home—and, while you’re at it, go green with this micro-sized chain bag featuring beadwork and diamanté embellishments. For a tiny thing, it’s laden with grand charms: Its golden Medusa head, for starters, positively gleams in the waning twilight, as depicted by New York City-based photographer Olivia Galli. Carry it by the petite top handle—or swing it easy across the body (or around the neck!) with the chain strap.
Van Cleef Arpels bracelet
Rose is just as sweet when it’s rendered in 18-karat gold. The evidence? This bracelet from Van Cleef Arpels’s Legend of Diamonds collection, an heirloom from first wear. Art Deco in design, this piece of fine jewelry dazzles with emerald-cut diamonds, rubies, and pink sapphires. Paris-based photographer Pauline Caranton captures it adorning some stemware—as if to toast to the resplendence of it all. Salut!
Louis Vuitton bag
Don’t mess with a classic—unless, of course, you know what you’re doing. Louis Vuitton certainly understands how to refashion its iconic Keepall: For fall, the travel-friendly bag features printed bouquets of buttercups imbued with as much quaintness as Victorian needlepoint. New York-based photographer Arielle Bobb-Willis shines a light on its glory.
Irene Neuwirth necklace
A native Jamaican, photographer Naila Ruechel has an impressive oeuvre of still lifes built around tantalizing color. This dazzling necklace, replete with lozenge-like stones in bonbon hues, was the perfect subject matter. With multicolored tourmaline and beryl stones cut into various shapes (oval, pear) and sizes, and strung together with 18-karat gold, this is jewelry for the neck that’s candy for the eyes.
Hermès scarf
For inspiration in conceptualizing this cashmere-and-silk printed scarf, Hermès scarf designer Aline Honoré headed to the textile department at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, where an abundant collection of American patchworks are housed. The result is a dazzling homage to the handicraft. Equally inspired, Australian artist Emily Galicek painted a border doused in every bit as much color and dimension.
Gucci bag
What do you get when you take a heritage classic like Gucci’s Bamboo 1947 bag and remix it to a celestial level? This be-studded,be-spiked, and be-grommeted little wonder with a towering personality. Featuring yellow-and purple-dyed leathers, the bag was photographed by London-based artist Marie Valognes, who added a flat-head nail as a finishing touch—because there’s no such thing as too much hardware.
Fendi bag
Calling this Baguette an icon certainly wouldn’t be an overstatement, but this season the Italian maison gives us something new to worship: a Baguette crafted for the label’s hand-in-hand initiative, which sees Italian artisans applying their local handicrafts to the famed purse. This Umbrian iteration—shot by Paris-based photographer Angèle Châtenet—features acorn motifs rendered in Orvieto crochet lacework typical of the region.
Dolce Gabbana earrings
If it looks like these earrings are floating in the ether in this dreamy photograph, taken by NewYork–based photographer Brea Souders, perhaps it’s because this is fine jewelry that is meant to transport. Crafted with amethysts, aquamarines, peridots, and morganites, these pieces feature a delicate yellow-gold filigree evoking baroque moldings. Destination: bijoux heaven.
Dior shoes
These kicky pumps, dreamed up by Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, are deceivingly sporty. Crafted with a black technical fabric and wrapped with slick rubber soles, the heel can best be described as ath-luxurious—especially as it’s fused with coral-bead-embellished fishnet knee-highs. To further cement just how far these shoes can go, New York City-based stylist Katie Burnett captured them in motion.
Chanel boots
What’s better than a long walk on the beach? A pair of rubber Chanel boots perfectly suited to accompany you on your next sunset stroll. They’re fabulous (and practical!) enough to let
you get away with keeping the rest of your ensemble supremely minimal—or so imagined Japan-born, New York-based photographer Fumi Nagasaka, who photographed this sandy, surreal scene.
