The mood on the red carpet at this year’s Vogue World: London? Summed up in one word: joy! Tonight we saw ebullience on the red carpet, with showgoers dressed for a night full of surprises—no one knew what exactly was in store, but they arrived ready. If the fashion could be distilled into two trends, it would be metallic and florals (and sometimes, both!). Several guests, including Princess Beatrice, donned quintessentially British label Richard Quinn. Princess Beatrice wowed in a pleated caped frock in a moody floral pattern by the designer while Nia DaCosta wore a tulle-trimmed floaty floral. And then there were the metallics! From sparkling foil-like silver to gleaming gold (see Charithra Chandran’s look) to dramatic bronze, metallics dominated. The high shine appeared on medallion-like paillettes, liquid-like denim (see Dove Cameron’s full Coach look), and itti bitty micro pants courtesy of Miu Miu. Metallics are, of course, a top trend for fall 2023—and the night only ensured that this trend is one worth test driving.
Whether you’re looking for inspiration for your next big night out or simply want to add a bit of magic to your fall wardrobe, this group of fashionable Vogue World: London showgoers are worth adding to your mood board. This showgoer donned a high-neck gown in silvery sequins; the look needs little else! When it comes to accessories, keep it simple with minimalist metallic shoes (we love a Bottega Veneta mule) and an under-the-radar bag.
Don’t be afraid to mix it up! Like Charithra Chandran, who paired her very gold gown with some very silver shoes. Metallics are like a neutral so you can layer every tone as you please! This dress by The New Arrvials is a great place to start.
Gold and silver tend to be the metallic go-tos but don’t sleep on bronze! There’s also copper and brass and a slew of other alloys to inspire you. A mini dress in bronze paired with some slingbacks and a classic Roger Vivier satin bag is a winning look—and Nathalie Emmanuel takes home the prize in this look.
Jeans on the red carpet? You betcha. Dove Cameron opted for a gleaming silver look by Coach. She layered her pieces for the ultimate casual cool-girl effect. Keep the accessories minimal.
Sometimes, all you need is a touch of metallic, a sprinkle of glitz! Per Sheila Atim, a white dress is the perfect blank canvas for such embellishments. Even better if there’s a peekaboo element via side cut-outs.
No pants, no problem! Especially when Miu Miu is involved. A pair of embellished bloomers go well with a fitted cashmere sweater cut like a tee.
Richard Quinn was one of the designers who won the night. His moody florals showed up on several showgoers last night. With gorgeous pleats and a cape effect, here’s one look that’s sure to win you best dressed.
Speaking of winning Richard Quinn looks, Princess Beatrice stole the show in her black and yellow dress. Why wear a simple LBD when you can wear one sprayed with yellow buds and a gorgeous matching belt?
Blue and white florals will be forever classic—Erdem knows this well. Wear the timeless print on a long-sleeved gown with subtle puff sleeves and subtle pleating at the hem.
Tulle is always a good idea, especially when it’s in the most cheerful tone of yellow. So too are opera gloves. Sport the accessory with any of your night-out looks to take it to the next level.
