When Sky Ferreira’s debut album, Night Time, My Time, came out in 2013, she eschewed the advice of her record company on the cover art. Instead of a conventional portrait, the singer went with a picture of herself posing topless in the shower with a vulnerable, doe-eyed expression, a risqué image captured by provocative Franco-Argentine filmmaker Gaspar Noé.
And while Ferreira might not be getting quite as explicit in for her upcoming release, which she says will be heavily “visual” and accompanied by interconnected abstract music videos, the photo she posted to tease the release yesterday on Instagram was just as high-impact. Shot by rising photography star Sandy Kim, it finds Ferreira sporting a steely gaze, lounging in a French-cut red swimsuit reminiscent of Pamela Anderson’s Baywatch days. Ferreira even matches the classic one-piece with a fresh red pout and a pair of patent leather heels. So as we await more tantalizing visuals from the pop artist, this is certainly a glamorous first look at what’s to come.
