Stefon Diggs almost didn’t make it to the 2024 Met Gala. Rain in Houston, his new home base since signing with the Texans last month, kept the star wide receiver on the ground last night. He was in fittings for the custom liquidy midnight blue H&M suit he’s wearing on the red carpet until just a few hours ago, but he betrayed no stress on a call from the Carlyle, where H&M set up in its fitting suite.
“I was 100% confident in it, since I saw the drawing,” he told Vogue. “I wish I was here yesterday, but they did such a diligent job doing my measurements at the first fitting, so it just kind of worked out.” The suit is made from vintage fabric sourced here in New York, and Diggs is accessorizing with jewelry including Greg Yuna necklaces, a Nick Bindi ring, and Shayan Afshar pear drop earrings.
This is Diggs’s second Met Gala; he attended in 2023 as a guest of Tommy Hilfiger, after attracting notice at fashion shows in New York and Paris. “I was a little intimidated the first time, but this time around I’m coming from a little bit more experience,” he said. “But I’m just as excited as I was my first time, it’s like a new beginning.”

Diggs’s new beginning with the Houston Texans officially starts on September 5, when the first games of the 2024-25 season will be played. For now, he’s getting to know his new teammates, including the rookie quarterback CJ Stroudl. “It’s a great vibe,” he said. “We know we have something special, we’ve got a lot of very talented individuals, we’ve got a young star quarterback. Now, we’re putting the rubber on the road. There’s a lot of camaraderie. You can feel the energy: Everybody’s getting along, competing at a high level and working extremely hard.”
When he’s not doing two-a-days and three-a-days, Diggs focuses on his young brand Liem, a collection of hoodies, tees, joggers, and cargo pants made in his own image, which he launched in 2022. “The next drop is in June, and we’re working on the mood board and visuals, but I always keep the main thing [football] the main thing, because without the main thing, I don’t think I’d be here.”
