Sydney Sweeney s Cassie may have undergone an aesthetic transformation of sorts on season two of Euphoria, but the actress s own makeover—debuted yesterday on the red carpet—was strong enough to steal even her on-screen counterpart s shine. Sweeney stepped out at the 2022 Film Independent Spirit Awards in Los Angeles having traded her trademark blonde for a strawberry iteration, punctuating the hue with a cut of lash-skimming fringe.
The shade shift came less than a week after Sweeney announced a new role on Instagram: the actress is set to star in forthcoming film National Anthem (alongside Halsey) as a character named Penny Jo Poplin. Said announcement came with a photo of Sweeney as Poplin, a look defined by a headscarf, ample freckles, and the same mane of banged and burnished blonde that was clearly more than a trompe l oeil set moment. Considering Kendall Jenner s recent switch to red, Barbie Ferreira’s new copper curls, and Gigi Hadid s long-lingering lean toward the same shade (the model just reverted back to blonde after nearly a year in gingered realms), the power behind the trend is palpable. It seems that redheads (natural and non) may be having the most fun this spring.
