In the words of the most famous fictional fashion editor: “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” With the world continuing to feel upside down in the midst of COVID-19, it’s hard to imagine not wanting to lean into spring’s most notorious and optimistic trend, so that’s what we did for this week’s Zoom styling challenge. Here at Vogue, we are two months into our quarantine and craving some fresh work from home fashion ideas, not to mention fresh air. Luckily, this week’s theme helped us to bring the outside in—quite literally in some cases—with our editors turned hobbyists creating floral arrangements to pair with their waist-up outfits. It’s just this kind of out-of-the-box thinking that we look forward to in this series. Plus, we have a long history of turning to the flower for inspiration, as our newly released June/July cover—featuring a previously unseen Irving Penn image of a rose—speaks to. Here’s hoping that as we round out a very rainy April here in New York that we will have plenty of May flowers, to be worn and otherwise. Regardless of what the weather brings, we can already feel the refreshed creativity coming up roses.
