Like all of you, we’ve done a lot of adjusting these past few weeks while getting used to our new normal of working remotely here at Vogue in the fashion department. One of the ways we’ve begun to find our footing is through our various newly formed routines—morning meetings being the most constant, and joyful, team-bonding Zoom dress-up once a week being a close second.
This week, the team is back with a double theme for, hopefully, double your enjoyment. Is it just us or is this series getting a bit sillier every week? We started with a plethora of hats, moved on to stripes (including a work-from-home bikini top) and now? We are here to try sunglasses inside. We hope our happiness is contagious as we can all use a little bright spot in our day. Nothing uplifts a mood like the nice warming hue of tinted specs, even if indoors and, for most of us on the East Coast, what was a particularly rainy day. When we commit to abandoning reality, we commit! Plus, there is certainly no better form of coverup (fashion assistant Nathan Watson makes the good point that these will save you on anti-aging eye cream!). Many of us matched our pairs with another instant mood-changer—lipstick. There is nothing quite like the power of a good lipstick to help in bringing a level of polish and finish to a look. It’s just the confidence boost we’ve found ourselves needing to feel ready to tackle some of our days, even if that day happens solely within the boundaries of our home.
