The standout fashion success story of awards season 2026 is Teyana Taylor. There is nothing that the One Battle After Another star can’t wear. Schiaparelli whale-tail dresses? Check. Ethereal Cong Tri; school mistress-esque Thom Browne; body-sculpting Mugler? Check, check, check. But perhaps no one saw her 2026 BAFTAs look coming.
For the British leg of awards season, the Harlem-born actor teamed up with Burberry’s Daniel Lee on a dress that was a) weather-appropriate and b) in line with the ultra-sassy style that has long been her calling card (can you believe it’s been 10 years since Taylor’s hotter-than-hot “Fade” video?) The pair ripped up the archetypal red-carpet rulebook and fashioned a plum silk duchess trench gown with a dramatic turned-up collar that framed her face and deep pockets to house (insert what you imagine Taylor’s favorite snack choice to be here). Reader, you’ve never seen a trench like it.
“Teyana is the epitome of femininity and strength, and we wanted the look to be a reflection of her,” Lee dials in to tell British Vogue. “My favorite element is the collar, which was shaped to resemble a rose through layering of the silk duchesse—the sculptural softness contrasts well against the trench silhouette.”
Whisking past the press with the confident air of an actor who doesn’t need to do a stint on the mini mic anymore, Taylor could be found inside the Royal Festival Hall chatting to co-star Chase Infiniti and Hollywood legend Glenn Close, who came straight from the Erdem anniversary show. Perhaps they were sharing London Fashion Week notes? Burberry, after all, closes the fall 2026 season tomorrow with its usual celebs-in-trenches extravaganza. We hate to say it, but Teyana has out-styled them all before the show has even begun.
