Tonight in Los Angeles, the Vogue World 2025: Hollywood show featured several celebrity cameos—both in the front rows, and during the presentation itself. Two stars who surprise-walked the runway? Dana Gurira and Teyana Taylor, the latter of whom will soon star in Ryan Murphy’s buzzy new series, All’s Fair.
Gurira and Taylor appeared in the sixth act, which highlighted Afrofuturism and celebrated the work of Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter, known for films including School Daze, Malcolm X, and Sinners. The duo walked the Paramount Pictures lot runway in costumes Carter designed for 2018’s Black Panther.
The matching looks were created for the film’s Dora Milaje, the personal bodyguards and royal security of the Black Panther. Featuring a strong red hue and silver armor-like accents, the outfits instantly command power—and are fitting for both a Marvel action star and a high-fashion runway. Taylor and Gurira weren’t the only celebs who walked in an iconic Black Panther look, either: Angela Bassett also appeared, reprising her role as Queen Ramonda in the original purple gown Carter designed for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
While tonight marked Gurira’s first Vogue World appearance, Taylor is no stranger to shutting down a Vogue World runway. For last year’s Vogue World: Paris show, the star did not miss a beat while dancing in a chainmail Rabanne look. Taylor kept that momentum going for Vogue World 2025—and both her and Gurira delivered a blockbuster twist.
