Begone, tiny sunglasses! The heretofore ubiquitous shades, balanced on the tips of supermodel noses as if they were Founding Fathers, are shrinking from popular demand. (Did we really think those lenses the size of grapes could protect against UV rays anyway?) A new ugly-chic type is casting shade upon us all: athletic sunglasses. The aerodynamic, lightweight shapes are typically polarized as well as polarizing. They’re beloved by the avid readers of Runner’s World and your cycling-obsessed uncle. And now, the sporty sunnies are on trend. We can thank Princess Anne, who wore her signature frameless Adidas pair with a prim coat to the Chelsea Flower Show in London in late May, for kick-starting the moment. Other fans include Gigi Hadid, Kim Kardashian West, and Pharrell Williams, who sported a pair to the French Open and to a recording session with Quavo.

The look has roots on recent runways, too. Alexander Wang released a sleek black collaboration with Oakley for Spring 2018, while Stella McCartney and Fenty x Puma served up similar pairs for the season. Just this past week, Heron Preston sent out a slew of Nike Vision Tailwind HP performance glasses at his Spring 2019 men’s show, complete with glare protection in hues of highlighter orange. Soon after, Bella Hadid, veritable patron saint of micro sunnies, stepped out in the unreleased pair. The style got a full-on designer makeover thanks to Instagram bootlegger extraordinaire @imran_potato, who chic-ed up his own pair, customizing the lenses in a Gucci monogram print. The cherry on top? Unlike mini Matrix glasses, these will actually shield your face from the summer sunshine.

Here, see the 10 best sporty sunglasses to wear all summer.
