Zoe Saldaña has had a whirlwind awards season. The actor continued her winning streak at the 2025 SAG Awards, where she won outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role or her turn as Rita Mora Castro in Emilia Pérez. To get ready for her big night, the actor worked with the tried-and-true glam team she’s had for years: Vera Steimberg on makeup and Mara Roszak on hair. “It’s been fun because I work with an amazing team of women that put me together every day,” Saldaña tells Vogue. “They are true artists and make the entire process enjoyable for me.”
Both Steimberg and Roszak looked to Saldaña’s one-sleeve Saint Laurent gown with an embellished ruffle detail as their guiding light for the beauty look. “Before I even think about my own vision for the big night, I always ask to see the dress; it is so important to see it and to understand the story behind it,” Steimberg tells Vogue. “Zoe’s dress provided a romantic, sultry, and elegant vibe, so my mood board concentrated on sultry eyes and radiant skin.”

To glow like Zoe, Steimberg has a surprising makeup tip: skincare. “You should include a good facial routine before applying any makeup,” she says. “If you give your skin the hydration and glow that it needs before applying any other products, your makeup will appear more radiant.”
She first prepped Saldaña’s skin using Chanel’s Sublimage La Crème Lumière Ultimate Regeneration and Brightening Cream. Then, she used a few drops of the Chanel Sublimage L’Extrait Intensive Repair-Oil Concentrate to boost Saldaña’s natural radiance on the red carpet. Finally, Steimberg used a touch of the Chanel Sublimage Le Sérum Yeux Ultimate Eye Serum in the under-eye area.
A classic yet subtle smokey eye is a focal point of the makeup look, and to achieve that effect Steimberg used the Chanel Ombre Essentielle Multi-Use Longwearing Eyeshadow in Brun Talpa and the Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Candeur et Expérience before lining the eyes with the Chanel Le Crayon Khôl Intense Eye Pencil in Noir. Lips were kept at a nice rosy neutral using the Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue Ultrawear Liquid Lip Colour in Light Mauve.
For hair, Roszak channeled ’80s-ballerina glam with a sleek, high-shine updo. To get that “wet hair” finish, she prepped with the RŌZ Milk Hair Serum before working in the RŌZ Willow Glen Treatment Oil. Then she parted Saldaña‘s hair horizontally into a top and bottom section. Working with the bottom section first, she pulled strands into a tight ponytail, securing with an elastic band. She finished by pulling the remaining hair to meet the ponytail, securing them together, and wrapping it all into a ballerina-like bun, but with a modern tight twist.
Steimberg says that the vibes behind the scenes are always fun and collaborative. “I love her as a human being and that makes my work so much easier,” she reflects. “I also feel that working with her has helped me grow as an artist.”
When it comes to preparing herself mentally for award show nights, Saldaña tends to focus on meditating and setting intentions. She also looks to certain keepsakes to keep her grounded during hectic times like these. “My boys’ Legos, I keep them in my purse," she says. "Whenever I miss them, which is often when I am away from them, I look inside my bag and see their little toys and it brings me comfort."
Effortlessly chic, Sunday’s look marked another memorable beauty moment for Saldaña this awards season.
