COPENHAGEN FALL 2026

By Emilie Martinsen-Kønigsfeldt

This polished fall collection was the first one fully designed by the new team working with Emilie Martinsen-Kønigsfeldt. The creative director has said she wants to focus on what customers are responding to, and she’s interested in rethinking some of the tenets set by the house’s namesake founder. One of the Malene Birger’s signatures was an “extra” approach to accessorizing. The layering in this collection, Martinsen-Kønigsfeldt said, was a twist on that more-is-more philosophy.

What stood out in this collection, however, was its put-togetherness, inspired by the impeccable Milanese sciura. Knit skirts fell well below the knee, and the fit of a long white coat with fur-trimmed collar, and a tailored jacket in sage was slim. The intersection of the “effortless” and more laid-back Scandi style and the intentionality and tradition of sciura style was an intriguing one that produced a pleasing collection.
