The Best Dressed Stars of the Week Nailed Subtle Statement Dressing
Given we’re currently in the middle of fashion month, it’s safe to say that it’s peak time for statement dressing—at least, that’s what the catwalks (and front row stars) are suggesting. But the best dressed stars of the week proved that sometimes, a more low-key approach to dressing up can still have a major impact. Stars like Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, and Dakota Johnson all slipped into looks that made quieter statements—choosing interesting silhouettes or textures to make their looks shine, versus bright colors or bolder accents.
At the premiere of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story in Los Angeles, Chloe Sevigny chose an entirely unexpected red carpet look: An elongated leather bomber coat from Phoebe Philo, complete with a ruffled hemline. Few are doing it like her. Equally as cool was Dakota Johnson at the spring 2025 Gucci show in Milan: She paired an oversized leather jacket with a white lace maxi gown, combining bohemian style with more of an edge. Also in the Italian city for fashion week, model Kendall Jenner opted for minimalism in a brown Bottega Veneta dress, with a tasteful hardware detail at the waist.
Though most of the week’s looks whispered elegance instead of screaming it, there were a few bolder moments that stood out. Halle Berry dazzled in a chevron-sequin halter gown by Tamara Ralph. At the Dolce Gabbana show in Milan, Madonna emerged wearing a dramatic black lace veil—and it was only fitting she stood out, given the whole show was as an homage to her. (Long live the queen of pop!).
