McGrath, creative director of makeup direction for Vogue World: Paris, is no stranger to creating lustrous looks that are, to quote her, “major” and naturally she brought her A-game for Vogue’s third global event. “We’re nodding to some of my greatest hits and the most iconic looks that I’ve created for the runway, adding a twist of color and texture of sparkle,” she tells us. It has taken months of prep to come up with the looks that ultimately appeared on the catwalk—she experimented with at least 30 different iterations of each look for every section (there are 12), before finalizing it. From rainbow eyes to washes of silver with diamanté embellishment, the makeup artist known in the industry as “Mother” harnessed the wonders of her Pat McGrath Labs products including the new Dramatique Mega Lip Pencils to create a true feast for the eyes.

Creating all manner of show-stopping hair looks, from styles punctuated with hundreds of snap clips to victory rolls and bantu knots, Souleiman used each decade “as a springboard to create something new.” He enlisted the help of Bumble Bumble’s hair products, including the Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil, and credits the brand for its brilliant products that not only facilitate the creation of different styles but work on hair textures, too. He also had Dyson’s new Supersonic R hair dryer to hand. “I really like Dyson hair tools because you can style the hair really effectively and not use such a high heat,” he says. While the R is a pro tool, the brand’s new Nural hair dryer is perfect for us at home, and automatically adapts its temperature when it gets close to the scalp—pretty nifty, no?

As for the manicures? Think nail charms, razor-sharp chrome talons and “Vogue” nail art. Manicurist Eri Narita worked tirelessly for over a month to create the looks you see here, utilising gel nail care brand, Bio Sculpture, to ensure each look that would last. “I love BioSculpture, because it lasts so long,” she tells Vogue, adding that it’s the gel brand in her native Japan.

And finally, the almost 200 athletes featured in the show were treated to a full face of Clinique as part of a paid partnership with Vogue for a luminous, game-ready glow before hitting the runway. As well as the brand’s Even Better All-Over Concealer + Eraser to ensure skin looked flawless, the brand’s latest viral hit, the Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, was applied to everyone taking part.
