“It’s a show about women getting the last word—which is something I think we all need more of right now,” Ryan Murphy told a lively audience gathered for the world premiere of his forthcoming Hulu series, All s Fair. With a heavyweight cast—Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, Glenn Close, Kim Kardashian, Niecy Nash, and Teyana Taylor—the show follows a group of high-powered female divorce attorneys who leave a male-dominated firm to start their own practice. But you already knew that, given that the trailer reached a staggering 134 million around the world.
The Chateau Marmont—where else!—played backdrop to a reception hosted after the nearby screening, which gave those on the call sheet the chance to get the gang back together again. “I gained some sisters,” Nash, who brought the heat in a red sequin gown by Sergio Hudson, told Vogue. “I was so excited to get back with the ladies and do what we love to do, which is catch up on each other s gossip.” Teyana Taylor, clad in a sculptural black Cong Tri look, echoed the sentiment. “My girls! I haven t seen them since the last day of filming, so it feels good to get back together.” And reunite they did. One at a time, the actresses trickled into the fete after enjoying a quiet private dinner together, posing for cameras and greeting fans.
Elsewhere, Sarah Paulson was working the room. The Ryan Murphy muse had purposefully opted for a runway-fresh Bottega Veneta number from Louise Trotter s recent Milan show. “It’s her debut collection—and here we are, in a show about women,” she said gleefully. Paulson s power shoulders were a pertinent choice. “This is not a dress that shows my hips, my waist, my boobs. This is me wearing a piece of art, and it’s not about highlighting the feminine form, and yet, by wearing it as a woman, it highlights the female form,” she added.
Paulson said she was most looking forward to catching up with Kris Jenner, an executive producer on the show, who made a fleeting appearance at the bash. “She’s like our mother,” Paulson joked. Guests were eagerly anticipating a Kardashian sighting too. “Where’s Kim,” one attendee asked her friend nervously, scanning the room for the Skims founder, who did a quick drop-by after dinner in Schiaparelli.
Elsewhere in the crowd, Kaia Gerber could be seen sipping on a beer as she mingled with friends— embodying the supermodel off-duty archetype in a little black dress and patent leather pumps. Nearby, another Hulu face, Demi Engemann of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, was taking it all in. “The first episode was extra in all the best ways,” she commented. “Every scene was just glitz and glamour, and everyone looked phenomenal.” Indeed, Engelmann hopes to follow the reality-to-Hollywood pipeline as laid out by Kardashian. “I think Kim s journey is so cool. I really want to venture into the acting and hosting world. It was inspiring to see her break out and do something else.”
As they craned their necks to spot Kim and co., a parade of crisp french fries, crab cakes, mini burgers, and honey-fried chicken kept partygoers satiated. So too did trays of warm cookies and espresso martinis, as the clock inched closer to midnight. Fittingly, the overall theme of the night was for the girls. “Female power” is how DJ Dana Boulos described it, hence her dance floor-filling playlist of Doechii, Lil’ Kim, and Madonna.
