Antonia Gentry Takes Vogue Along For Her Very First Red Carpet Experience

Last night, the 2021 MTV Movie TV Awards were held in Los Angeles, California, honoring the year’s best film and television moments. Though there were many red carpet veterans making an appearance—including Yara Shahidi and Elizabeth Olsen—Ginny Georgia star Antonia Gentry was walking the step-and-repeat for the first time. The actor, who stars in the show about a family whose “fresh start” in New England is anything but, attended as both a nominee for Breakout Performance and as a presenter for Best Musical Moment. “I was very nervous, I’ll admit, but I was surrounded by such a wonderful team and everyone was so welcoming and helpful,” says Gentry. “It was so much fun.” To make the occasion, she took Vogue along for the ride.
To pull off a stellar debut red carpet look, the actor called up a professional glam team to help, including makeup artist Nina Park, hair stylist Marty Harper, and stylist Thomas Carter Phillips. The latter dressed her in a minimal, white Valentino two-piece, complete with simple black heels by Christian Louboutin and dazzling jewels by Messika Paris. Gentry said the ensemble made her feel “important” and sleek. “I loved how chic it was,” she says. “And the diamonds! I still cannot believe they allowed me to walk around with that many jewels on.”
As a newbie to the big, glitzy awards show, Gentry was simply happy to be there, but her favorite part of the night? “Being in the same room as Anthony Mackie and Elizabeth Olsen,” says Gentry. “I got to meet some fantastic, talented people.” Soon she’ll be getting back to work with some more talented people, too. This summer, she starts filming a new movie titled Time Cut with Madison Bailey, and then it s on to filming season two of Ginny Georgia. “It has been such a wonderful journey to be a part of this show, and I cannot wait to continue the stories of the beautiful characters that Sarah Lampert has created,” Gentry says. “Season two will surely have higher stakes than season one—and I’m on the edge of my seat waiting to find out more.”
