Happy 100th Anniversary, Architectural Digest! A Stylish Crowd Showed Up to Celebrate

With Fashion Week just around the corner, New York’s design-minded were able to spend their Monday evening celebrating Architectural Digest on its 100th anniversary. For the magazine’s birthday celebration, Pace Gallery in Chelsea opened its doors to a cultivated crowd that included Naomi Campbell, Maria Sharapova, Joseph Altuzarra, and Rachel Feinstein.

At the entrance, fashionable attendees made their way through lush greenery, taking visual cues from the majestic homes and gardens depicted in the magazine. Guests nibbled on tuna niçoise and vegetable pot pies while Anna Wintour introduced AD editor in chief and cohost of the evening, Amy Astley.

With gratitude to all who have supported AD Astley mused, “I see so many talented people who have been both my inspirations and my creative collaborators for many decades, well several decades. Not 10, a couple of decades. But AD’s history is indeed glorious and illustrious, and each of you in this room has played a singular role in the rich history that is Architectural Digest. But it is the future which excites and which I am focused on, and together we are preparing AD for its next 100 years—which will be the best 100 years.”

Speaking of the magazine’s rich archive, Nell Diamond recalled her earliest memories of the publication, referring to AD as the “library of everything chic,” while reminiscing on having her home featured as “an absolute dream come true.”

The packed room was abuzz with conversation fluctuating from political discourse to NYFW schedules and chatter surrounding AD’s big birthday and recent Abram’s book, A Century in Style, which was displayed throughout the gallery. Here’s to 100 more years of stylish living, AD!
