All the Vintage Looks You Might Have Missed During Met Gala Weekend

While last year’s Met Gala theme, Sleeping Beauties—a reference to those pieces of fashion history that are now too delicate to wear—lent itself perfectly to archival choices on the red carpet, for the Met Gala 2025, there was less vintage on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

That’s not to say that there wasn’t plenty of archival fashion on display over Met Gala 2025 weekend, though. Take Zendaya, who wore a red sequined column dress by Patrick Kelly for Monday’s after-parties, teamed with a feathered bolero, in tribute to the Costume Institute’s 2025 exhibition theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. Also perfectly in keeping with the “Tailored for You” dress code? Jeremy Pope and Paloma Elsesser, who both opted for a Maison Margiela fall 1997 bodice (for the main event and after-parties, respectively), printed with the words “semi-couture,” and designed to evoke a mannequin.

Then there was Tyla, styled by Law Roach, who opted for multiple vintage looks over Met Gala weekend including a brocade and lace minidress from Roberto Cavalli’s fall 2004 collection, and a silver croc-print suit from the designer’s spring summer 2011 collection. For the Met Gala after-parties, the former British Vogue cover star sported a feathered minidress by Bob Mackie—the ultimate party dress to dance the night away in.
