Brands like Etro, Fendi, Brandon Maxwell, Missoni, Jonathan Simkhai, and Dolce Gabbana have proven that classic triangle bras and longline lace bralettes will do just fine worn under tailored suiting and menswear-inspired separates.
The bra top as a shirt is a micro-trend belonging to our post-pandemic tastes for subtle sultriness—or simply put, designers have brought sexy back. The ongoing appetite to get back out into the world has meant runways brimming with slinky, body-conscious knitwear, ultra-sheer dresses, corseted blazers, and garments with cutouts at the hips.
While body-baring clothing can feel intimidating to some, the bra as a top is one of the more accessible of the current sultry trends. Strike the right balance by pairing bralettes and bra tops with oversized, boyish pieces like a slouchy suit, a baggy button-up (worn open) with a pair of equally loose jeans.
