Sara and Erin Foster Hosted a Sun-Drenched Beach Weekend with Bumble BFF Saks Fifth Avenue
Sometimes, a weekend in Montauk—aka the “end of the world”—can feel apocalyptic; what with the traffic, long lines, and the eerily abandoned buildings in the Montauk’s State Park, but this past weekend was quite the opposite thanks to Saks Fifth Avenue and Bumble, who treated a group of New Yorkers to a lush weekend out East. Appropriately dubbed “Saks by Sea,” the festivities were equal parts summer camp and wellness retreat, thanks to yoga classes led by Hilaria Baldwin and meditation sessions by Happy Not Perfect’s Poppy Jamie. Sunday morning even started with a beach cleanup led by Surfrider.
The whirlwind weekend—produced by Saks Fifth Avenue in collaboration with Bumble BFF—reached its apex on Saturday night, with a fête hosted by Erin and Sara Foster. The dynamic duo and heads of creative for Bumble were quick to note that they are not regular Hamptonites. “We love the Hamptons and started coming here about five years ago, and we basically suck up all year to our friends who have houses here,” Erin Foster told Vogue. “We want to be here as much as possible; we just need more invites.”
Following cocktails on the lawn of Hero Beach Club, guests including Flaviana Matata, Tanya Taylor, and Ashley Avignone made their way to Kirk Park Beach, where a clambake unfolded under twinkling lights and stars. “I think Bumble and Saks got together and thought, ‘Who are the coolest people they could give this amazing weekend to,’ and honestly I think we were pretty low on the list,” Sara Foster joked as a trio of fire dancers performed for guests.
“These are millennials who don’t care about us, but we’re going to work really hard to win them over,” Erin added as her sister laughed. “I guess we’ll just start by asking about Hailey and Justin, and talking about hot girl summer, but there’s no way Sara knows what any of this is.”
For some, the evening came to a close while roasting marshmallows around a campfire—wrapped in cashmere blankets from White + Warren, naturally—while others slipped out into Montauk’s notorious, some might say inescapable party scene.
The full group reconvened the following afternoon in Amagansett at farm-to-table hotspot Rosie’s, where womenswear newcomer Black Iris debuted their Saks-exclusive wares. Hosted by the brand’s founders, Candice Miller, Aly Gradone, Chloe Rosenberg, and Rachel Wexler alongside Saks Chief Merchant Tracy Margolies, the brunch unfolded in the eatery’s sun-drenched dining room, where guests were encouraged to find their favorite look for next weekend—the last of the summer season. Say it isn’t so!
