Drama, Drama, Drama! The 2025 Met Gala Was All About the Floor-Sweeping Cape
There’s no denying: the 2025 Met Gala was all about the cape. The first Monday in May’s red carpet usually sees a plethora of naked and barely-there dresses, but this year’s “Tailored for You” theme also welcomed more covered-up looks, which celebs chose to top off with cascading capes and shawls of the fur, satin, and sheer variety in a subtle homage to André Leon Talley’s iconic style.
A dramatic, floor-sweeping cape not only makes for an amazing red carpet photo on the stairs (if you recall Rihanna’s iconic 2015 Guo Pei look)—they re also the perfect cozy cover-up (a fitting choice for Monday s chilly and rainy weather). What these celebrities do with their cape on the top of the stairs? Well, that isn’t our business, but their prevalence surely sets the tone for next year’s awards season. André would be proud.
