“I’m not from the snow, so whenever I get a chance to play in it, I take advantage,” Chanel ambassador Lily-Rose Depp remarked as she entered Chanel’s In the Snow winter pop-up, an immersive wintery wonderland that takes over the ground floor of the Standard hotel. “I actually really love skiing and sledding—I just don’t get the opportunity to do it all that much,” she added.
Lucky for New York urbanites, Chanel is bringing a little bit of the alps to Manhattan’s Meatpacking District (opening to the public December 12 to 15) in celebration of the iconic No. 5 L’Eau’s new holiday campaign, starring none other than Depp herself. Like the campaign, the après-ski mecca imbues New York with a bit of holiday magic, complete with an ice-skating rink, a chic sleigh, twinkling trees, and an innovative AR experience.
Glamorous Chanel-clad guests including Kacey Musgraves, Diane Kruger, Sarah Hoover, and Nell Diamond sipped on Spiked Coco and nibbled on warm cheese-dipped pretzels, while Talita von Furstenberg and Grace VanderWaal moved to beats by DJ Kitty Cash. Sisters Jemima and Lola Kirke caught up with Zosia Mamet over peppermint bark by the bar, and the always-captivating Jordan Roth turned heads in a modern take on the brand’s signature tweed paired imaginatively with bold pinstripes.
The evening continued with a moment of surprise and delight when K-pop stars Monsta X took to the stage for a dynamic four-song performance. Guests flocked to the front of the room to capture the energetic choreography on camera. “We’re here to make this night beautiful, but you’re all already beautiful,” the boys mused with joy between songs. “We’re here to celebrate Chanel No. 5, but for us Chanel’s always been number one.” The crowd lingered before bidding one another adieu, hearts full of the holiday spirit and hands brimming with a gift bag containing none other than a bottle of Chanel No. 5.
