A Power Lunch at the Plaza for Citymeals on Wheels  

Lunch is a rare thing in 2022, usually taken at a desk if at all, but at noon on Thursday, New Yorkers gathered at the Plaza Hotel for that even rarer meal, a power lunch. Citymeals on Wheels Power Lunch honored Barbara and Jenna Bush, who were first introduced to the organization, and on stage, by board member Derek Blasberg. Jenna s NBC colleague Stephanie Ruhle emceed the annual event, now in its thirty-fifth year, which raised enough for half-a-million meals to be delivered to housebound New Yorkers in coming winter months. 

Two things made sure that the event (which was attended by Barbara Pierce Bush, Huma Abedin,  Elizabeth Schaffer, Lauren Santo Domingo, Jack McCollough, Lazaro Hernandez, Selby Drummond, Sienna Miller, Wes Gordon, and more) lived up to its name: First, the coffee course was served promptly at 1 pm. Second, it was announced that a late recipient of Citymeals deliveries had left an incredible $2.5 million to the non-profit, which is primarily sustained by grassroots contributions. If only every power lunch was so productive.
