Nearly every photo of the designer shows her wrapped under strands of pearls or with oversize studs in her ears. On the runway, Lagerfeld interpreted this with layered pearl necklaces of various sizes and lengths.

For herself, Coco often chose mid-length tweed versions with kicky pleats, which arrived on the runway this season with high slits where the pleats would have been.

Lagerfeld has given models this look several times over, but this season he combined Coco’s bows with her pearls, accenting necklaces with pink ribbons featuring Chanel logos.
