Colman Domingo Wanted to Show Off a Little for the 2024 SAG Awards
It’s been a jam-packed awards season for Colman Domingo, who, in addition to repping two films (Rustin and The Color Purple), has been far and away the best dressed man on the red carpet. For the 2024 SAG Awards in Los Angeles, Domingo upped his game once again in a custom blush pink Off-White suit featuring criss-crossing straps. The M.O. for the SAGs? “Show off a little bit more.”
“As artists, among fellow artists, I think it’s important to bring a bit more of your personality to this event and not be as austere as you would probably be for another event,” Domingo tells Vogue of his look, which was styled by Wayman + Micah. “I’ve never worn Off-White to any event and I have always loved how playful they are with a streetwear ideology. This makes me feel like my West Philadelphia roots.”
In such a busy few months with so much to celebrate, the actor is focusing on staying present. He has adopted a regimen of juicing, gym time, and hydration to help keep his stamina up. “I try to make sure that the days leading up to it that I prepare my mind, body, and soul,” he says. Still, even with so much attention on him, Domingo is prioritizing his team. “I orchestrate the day of with military precision because I want to allow for error. I check into a hotel room—this time L’Ermitage—to make sure there are “work stations” to allow every team member to get a good amount of time for do their best whether it be my barber, makeup artist, photographer and stylists,” he says. “I eat a light meal before I go and I usually will order some drinks and snacks for my team to make sure it feels celebratory.”
While he acknowledges awards season can be draining, Domingo is excited to laugh, dance, and share the moment with his colleagues. And he wants to remember it all. “I have a ritual to just find a moment of stillness to remember everything,” he says. “Every face, every smile, every story, every detail before I go home.”

1/18Today is the day of the SAG Awards and I literally have the best seat in the house. At Rehearsal.
2/18I check into a hotel for awards weekends for grooming and styling. I chose my scents for the weekend which I usually layer. These have always perked up noses in rooms all award season.
3/18Got a delivery from my friends at Diageo. A custom bottle of Don Julio 1942 that is bedazzled to make me feel like a star. It says “Outstanding Forever.”
4/18My hotel embroiders my pillow. That makes me feel an extra special. It’s the little things that count.
5/18I take time to literally smell the roses.
