After DVF Received the Chevalier de la Légion D’Honneur, She Celebrated With Dinner at the Most French Venue Possible—the Eiffel Tower

In America, you can often find Diane von Furstenberg somewhere around the Statue of Liberty, the icon of Americana that the designer has raised over $100 million to restore and support. So it made sense then that on Saturday night whilst in Paris, she could be found at another architectural icon: The Eiffel Tower. On the monument’s first-floor restaurant, von Furstenberg was fêted by her friends and family on the occasion of her reception of the Chevalier de la Légion D’Honneur from Christine Lagarde the night before. At the ceremony, the designer said, “I am accepting this Legion D’Honneur with pride and humility, knowing that recognition and honor give us a voice. And when we have a voice, it is our duty and privilege to use that voice for those who have no voice.”

At the celebratory dinner, DVF could be toasted once more by partygoers including Marisa Berenson, Jeff Bezos, Larry Gagosian, Antoine Arnault, Natalia Vodianova, Seth Meyers, Alexi Ashe, and von Furstenberg’s family. It was her son, Alexander von Furstenberg, who arranged the evening with her husband, Barry Diller, after winning an evening in the Eiffel Tower at an amFAR auction last year. What better way to spend it than celebrating a woman who stands as tall—and casts just as glittering an image— as these two icons of the United States and France?
