Frame and Ilona Hamer Celebrated Their Joint Collection With an Old Hollywood-Style Dinner

After its launch in 2012, American lifestyle brand Frame became a widespread sensation, infiltrating the market with its West Coast indicative, basics-loving, minimalism-fueled aesthetic. The celebration of its latest collection, a joint collaboration with Australian stylist and longtime friend, muse, and consultant of the brand Ilona Hamer, was the best excuse for assembling the city s coolest crowd atop the quaint rooftop at Chateau Marmont, a location that s Old Hollywood personified.
Naturally, slinky gowns were traded with relaxed, elevated dress: Elsa Hosk paired a strong-shouldered blazer with crisp, wide-leg jeans. Baggy, cargo-pocket jeans from the brand, a leather jacket, and silk top made up Hannah Kirkelie s uniform for the night. Then, a few guests each turned out their own versions of the brand s velvet and trouser set—a particularly holiday-friendly pairing. Also joining Hamer and Frame co-founder Erik Torstensson for the evening were co-founder Jens Grede and Emma Grede, Langley Fox Hemingway, Amanda Charchian, Kelly Sawyer, Taylour Paige, Kilo Kish, Paul Wesley, Brandon Flynn, and Laura Harrier.
Born out of the busy, flight-ridden lifestyle of a bicoastal stylist, Hamer tells Vogue the versatile 10-piece capsule is meant to offer the most while using the least amount of pieces (as is her technique for packing ahead of a trip). As for Hamer s approach to denim: "They should look vintage, for me," she says. "If you re making a pair of new jeans, they should look old." Mirroring her less-is-more approach to dressing, Hamer says she wanted to save the night for friends and family in lieu of a grand bash. "I m not a very public person — I m actually quite shy," she says, to which Torstensson jokes he had to push Hamer to host the night s dinner. "We need to celebrate this!" he laughs.
A martini bar under the stars opened the night while attendees caught up with one another and snapped group photos. Just inside, the tablescape was adorned with viney, green accents. Before diving into a menu of hamachi crudo, ravioli ricotta, and bourbon ice cream, dinner was kicked off a Champagne toast.
