The Hannah Traore Gallery Celebrated its Opening With a Vernissage and Dinner Party to Follow
Last week, the Lower East Side received its newest gallery at 150 Orchard Street. Founded by Hannah Traore, the eponymous gallery is dedicated to showcasing and providing a platform for underrepresented artists and creatives and debuted with two simultaneous exhibitions.
Guests included artworld-heavy hitters like Antwaun Sargent, Isolde Brielmaier, Tyler Mitchell, Rashid Johnson, and more. All gathered last Thursday night (despite the bitter chill) to show support and take in the two shows while sipping Ruinart Champagne—though many did remain masked. Also making the rounds were cakes From Lucie Bakery, which were as colorful as the pieces on display from artists like Arielle Bobb-Willis, Camila Falquez, and more.
After viewing the shows, those friends and family-status attendees had two more stops to make. First, a dinner at nearby Fish Cheeks, and finally an after-party at The Standard, East Village’s No Bar. The latter is famously known as an inclusive, all-are-welcome late-night spot, where pretense has no place. For Traore, the night’s celebration was evocative of all she has in store for her new gallery.
