As of late, Hervey has been giving her hair a break while she’s off-stage (aside from a few virtual shows). “Most of the time it will be in a bun or two with a soft scrunchie, or down, air-dried and curly,” she says. She makes sure to keep it conditioned and nourished with coconut oil for the day—“It keeps my roots soft,” she notes—followed by a rinse out at night.

Above all, Hervey is a “ritual over routine girl,” as she puts it. Her daily affirmations, dance workouts, and cup of coffee set good energy for the rest of the day. “Now more than ever, I make sure that I am really making an effort to stay consistent with checking in with my spirit,” she says. For Hervey, self-love “gives you the protection needed to get through all of life’s challenges.” As a child of divorce, she recalls always focusing her energy on “giving my love to others to make sure everyone else was cared for. If I felt pain; I always tried to cover everything else around me in joy.” Because of this, she’s been prioritizing the cultivation of pleasure and joy for herself. “Addressing my desires and allowing myself space to be alone leaves me feeling more fulfilled when I do spend time with others,” she says. “It should be known that putting care into your own mind, body, and spirit is essential.”
